Exactly three weeks ago today, my father in law went into the hospital because he had congestion in his lungs and his breathing was labored. He was 81 years old but did not look or act like he was 81. He mowed his own yard (which is huge) and two days before going into the hospital, he had cut down a tree by himself and burned it.
His condition never got any better…..he was getting progressively worse each day. The Drs. could not find an antibiotic to work on him and he ended up on a ventilator. We also found out that he had a torn mitral valve in his heart while he was in the hospital so the Drs. say the condition of his heart and lungs were working against each other. Yesterday, he slipped away from us,
We are all sad because he was our rock. He was a great man….very wise and lots of good common sense!! He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather….and to me, a wonderful father in law. I feel blessed to have had in my life. He lived a wonderful life, too and was loved by many, many people! He had been retired for 20 years so he and my mother in law had many happy years just enjoying life together. Not many people can say that! He was able to retire that young because of the wise decisions he made early in life and God blessed him for that!
Today our family will be planning a funeral. We are sad but we are comforted in knowing without a shadow of a doubt that he is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is home!
Please keep our family in your prayers during this difficult time. The prayers of many are truly being felt and giving us the strength we need and the peace that passeth all understanding!
