Make Your Own Bubble Bath Paint

My kids LOVED this. I mixed up some baby bubble bath/body wash with a little cornstarch and a little food colouring and they played in the tub forever. They had so much fun painting the walls and even painting themselves. I didn’t have to worry about them painting themselves either because I made this with gentle, tear-free, baby wash. It only took minutes to make too, which is always a bonus. Don’t worry about this staining your tub walls either. I have white tiles and grout and it washed off very easily. Try this out with your kiddos, they’ll love you for it! Here’s the ‘recipe’:

What you’ll need (this was enough to make 4 containers):

1 cup baby bubble bath or body wash – as long as it is clear/white
4 tbsp cornstarch
a few drops of food colouring
small containers with lids

Directions:

1. in a mixing bowl mix together your bubble bath and cornstarch
2. pour this mixture into 4 small containers
3. pour a couple drops (you only want to use a couple drops so it won’t stain) of food colouring in each container and mix well
4. your kids can use either paintbrushes or their hands to have fun in the tub
5. when you’re done, snap on the lid and they’re ready to go for next time

Fall Crafts For Kids: Leaf Wreath

The links in the post below may be affiliate links. Read the full disclosure Here.

October 23, 2011 by laurie 1 Comment

This looks like a fun and easy craft to do with the kids!

You will need:

  • Fresh Fall leaves in various colors
  • Paper plate
  • White school glue
  • Scissors

1.  Begin this Autumn craft by collecting about twenty colorful leaves from outside.  Try to get nice fresh ones that have just fallen… they will be easier to glue on.

2.  Cut the middle out from a paper plate.  Fold the plate in half to get the cut started in the middle, then cut along the rim to make about a 2 inch paper plate border (young kids may need help with this part).

3.  Continue building the wreath by gluing each leaf to the paper plate.  Slightly overlap each leaf.  For this leaf craft, I had each leaf point in the same direction, with the stems pointing inward.

4.  Next, clip off the stems from each leaf using scissors.

5.  Tie a pretty Fall ribbon in a bow, then glue the bow on to the wreath.

As a teacher and a parent, I LOVE this idea!!

Table your constant stream of morning reminders with this clever place mat, which allows kids to take responsibility for their own must-dos.

Materials
  • Decorative paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • 18- by 12-inch sheet of poster board
  • Markers
  • Clear Con-Tact paper (or have it laminated at a copy shop)
  • Nontoxic dry-erase marker
  • Adhesive-backed Velcro dots
Instructions
  1. Cut three 6- by 12-inch rectangles from decorative paper. Use a glue stick to affix them side by side onto the poster board.
  2. Write a “Do at Home” checklist on the left rectangle and a “Take to School” checklist on the right one (leave a few blank spaces at the bottom of each list for write-in reminders).
  3. Have the place mat laminated at a copy shop or cover it with clear Con-Tact paper. Your child can use a nontoxic dry-erase marker to check off items or write additional reminders. Affix an adhesive-backed Velcro dot to keep the marker in a handy spot on the mat.
