Make A Bird Feeder
The signs of spring are starting to show! It has been beautiful weather here in Florida and hopefully it will warm up soon where you are! The birds are out and about and looking for something good to eat! Make a bagel bird feeder and hang it on a tree outside within view of where you eat breakfast (if possible). All you need is a plain bagel. Cut it in half and tie a piece of twine around each half. Spread vegetable oil or peanut butter on it and dip it in bird seed. No bird seed? Sprinkle chopped raisins, apples, sunflower seeds and corn meal onto the peanut butter. Now go tie it around a tree branch and watch for the birds to come! Talk about the different kinds of birds that you see and look them up on the computer or in a book. Discuss the different ways each one looks. (If you do not have a bagel, you can use a pinecone instead) The kids will love doing this and it will be a fun thing to talk about as a family!!
