The winner of the Crayola Giveaway is Samantha Dull from Omaha, NE! Congratulations!
I have always loved drawing, coloring and creating. Not that I’m good at it, but I do enjoy trying! When I was asked to review the Crayola Digital Light Designer I was excited because I knew that I would enjoy it, as well as my grandkids! It was one of the top selling toys of the Christmas season and I had heard several of my students talking about wanting one!
Well, let me tell you, my grandkids and I were not disappointed!! I do have to say that understanding everything this toy does is the hardest part and I still do not have that all figured out but I’m sure the more my grandkids play with it the more they will learn! Crayola also has some videos posted at www.crayola.com/dld to help you learn more about the toy. The one thing I can say for sure is that this toy has occupied my grandkids for hours!! They are loving it and the fact that everything is contained in one unit and there is no mess is a plus for their mom and myself! The Designer is recommended for ages 6+, however my grandson who is turning 5 this month really enjoyed playing with it, also. I’m sure the older the child, the more they will be able to understand EVERYTHING that it does.
How does the Digital Light Designer work? The round dome responds to the touch of a stylus to display up to seven colors, providing unlimited imaginative fun. Kids can make their drawings move with animation options or even create short movies by combining drawings. The dome also features eight engaging activities and games to keep kids entertained. The only downside I see to this toy is the fact that it requires 4 D batteries and 2 AAA batteries. It also has a fan inside which makes a noise which I see that other reviewers have said is irritating, however I did not think that it was at all! I give this toy an “A” for fun and creativity and for keeping kids occupied for long periods of time!
The other toy that I was asked to review was the Crayola Airbrush Marker. I wasn’t as excited to share this one with the grandkids because I had nightmares about the mess I assumed it would make! I’m happy to say that that wasn’t the case at all. You do have to be careful where you aim the marker, however once your kids get that message (which I said loudly about 20 times!!), there is no problem! 🙂 – Just make sure you have pounded that into them before you start.
The Crayola Airbrush Marker Kit comes with the sprayer, 8 washable markers, 4 fabric markers, 20 sheets of paper and 4 stencil sheets. You can also use your own Crayola Broadline Markers with the kit.
I do love the fact that this toy does not use any batteries, you pump it to make it spray. However, young kids can not do this so well, so it becomes the job of the parent. Older kids will have no problem though! All kids will enjoy creating pictures and T-shirts with this toy and it was also a big hit with the grands! We had a lot of fun with these toys and once again I am the “Cool Grammy” with the “Cool Toys”!! Thanks, Crayola!!
