Sudden Infant Death Syndrome……some of the scariest words ever for a new parent and one of the biggest worries.  Why? Because it is the leading cause of death in infants ages 1 – 12 months of age.  That, of course, is one of the leading reasons that new moms choose to have their newborn in the room with them for the first few months after they are born.

But what if I told you about a crib mattress that could help alleviate some of that worry?  A mattress that is breathable all the way through…..yes, it’s true!

The mattress that I am talking about is the Newton Crib Mattress!  It is so unique that when I was given the chance to review it, I couldn’t wait!

The Newton Crib Mattress has a patented Wovenaire core which is 90% air and 10% food grade polymer.  It kind of looks like a a bunch of ramen noodles but they are soft and you can literally breathe right through the mattress.  If your infant happens to flip over on to their stomach and has their head face down, you do not have to worry about suffocation!

The Wovenaire core is cushioned between two layers of highly breathable spacer fabric that is quilted together in a cloud pattern to create soft pillows of air.  This provides a very comfortable and safe sleeping environment for your baby.  This means that not only can baby rest comfortably, but so can mommy and daddy!

This outer cover can easily be removed for washing.  And while you’re at it……you can completely wash the inside of the mattress, too!!  How awesome is that?!  Just put it into a tub or shower, rinse (the water will go through the mattress) and then stand up to dry!  You can keep mold and bacteria away from your baby and out of the crib!

The Newton Crib Mattress contains no foam, latex, springs, or glue which are common in other crib mattresses.  This means no off gassing, toxic chemicals or allergens.  The Newton Crib Mattress is made in an emissions free facility and has received the Green Guard Gold certification. Just another feature that gives new moms peace of mind!

But the true test of a crib mattress is how well the baby sleeps on it.  What good are all of these features if your baby doesn’t sleep?

So we have put it to the test!  Noah is 7 weeks old and is almost sleeping through the night….in fact, he has slept for 8 hours straight a few nights!  He doesn’t care one bit about the breathability features or the no toxic chemicals, he only knows that he is comfortable on this mattress and sleeps well.

What more could a mama ask for?
