Oh my goodness has my life been busy lately!! And I mean CRAZY BUSY!! I am a teacher and these last couple of weeks have been very stressful! Thank goodness for my Nutrisystem Diet Plan because without it I would have eaten everything in sight!! Not that I haven’t cheated some, but not as badly as I would have had I not had a plan in place to follow!!
Still, I’m not where I wanted to be this far into the program. Some of that is my own fault because I have not exercised as much as I should have. I know that I am at that age where the fat is just not going to come off without getting out and moving around more. But at the end of a long, hard day in the classroom, it’s the last thing that I want to do.
With all of that being said, it is this cycle of not staying on track, not exercising like I should and guilt that makes me fall right back into my old habits and stay there. However, along with my Nutrisystem Plan (which helps me have a plan to stick with), I have started speaking words of affirmation to help me stay on track and it is helping me! In the past, my guilt along with my inner thoughts of feeling like I’m no good or don’t deserve to look good, have driven me to eat more food and have that “I don’t care” attitude, when really I do care!!
Affirmations can be really useful tools for weight loss success because they help “turn off” those negative feelings that you have. Affirmations help focus your attention on your goals and help to keep you on track. Using affirmations can help make your weight loss goals a reality.
Most of the time I can find myself focusing more on what is missing in my life and on what I don’t want, rather than what I want to create. I tend to focus on the problem, not on the solution. Affirmations are a form of positive self-talk. Using affirmations will change your negative thinking into positive thinking. With practice you will begin to automatically reframe your negative thoughts into positive, powerfully creative ones.
Another thing that I like to do each day is to start my day in prayer. I am a Christian and I believe that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13) After praying, I will write my daily affirmation in my Nutrisystem Food Tracker. This way when I write down what I am eating, I can constantly remind myself of my affirmation of the day and it helps me to stay on track.
Here are some of my daily affirmations:
- My health is the foundation of my life and therefore a top priority.
- I am willing to do something different to get the results I’m looking for.
- I am capable of change and moving forward.
- I have the power to change my life.
- I will choose today to eat healthy foods.
- I am committed to my weight loss goals.
- I will eat like a thin person.
- I will exercise to release stress and feel better about myself.
- I am worth it!!
- I am moving in the direction of my dreams.
Try speaking daily affirmations into your life and see if it does not help you. I guarantee that it will because any time that we speak positively to ourselves, it helps to motivate us! I know that if I had not done this the last couple of weeks I would have gained some weight back but because I tried to stay positive, I actually lost 3 more lbs. even in all of the stress!! That’s a total of 16 lbs!
Dear Lord, grant me the willingness to eat what I need, instead of eating what I want, and the wisdom to know the difference! Amen!! 🙂
