Colgate Kids Eco-Visco Crib Mattress Review

Crib Mattresses! Who ever thinks about crib mattresses? Well, no one really, unless you need to go and purchase one! Then you “think” a lot about them!! And you learn that there are so many of them on the market and what they are made of, how firm they are and how much they cost varies so much! It’s enough to make your head spin!
Of course, you want to buy only the “best” for your little bundle of joy, but what does this really mean?
When I started researching this on the internet for myself, one company’s name kept appearing – Colgate Kids. Well, I thought “why does a toothpaste ad keep coming up under crib mattresses?” I finally clicked on it and found out that Colgate Kids is a 60 year old Crib Mattress Company!! I just love that fact and the fact that they are a family owned American business operating out of Atlanta, Georgia. They take their job very seriously and they only recommend and manufacture mattresses that their own children and grandchildren can sleep on!
I was asked to review the Eco-Visco Angel Dual Firmness Mattress. It arrived and the first thing that I noticed was how light weight this mattress is! It weighs only 9lbs. 9 oz. and the reason that I like that is because of how easy it is to lift while in the crib to put a new sheet on it! I also like the fact that this mattress has square corners so it fits nice and snug in the crib and the sheets fit snugly so that they don’t “slip off” while baby is sleeping and moving around. There are no gaps between the crib and the mattress, so that puts a parent’s mind at ease. The Eco-Visco Angel is a dual firmness crib mattress that contains Eco-Foam and a cooling gel.The extra firm infant side features a 5” thick Eco-Foam that supports growing bones. The toddler side has a 5” Eco-Foam and 1 ” gel that not only supports the child but also helps regulate their sleeping body temperature. The Eco-Visco Angel is the only crib mattress with a full 1 ” gel that covers the whole mattress face. It is GREENGUARDcertified, non-toxic, contains no chemical fire retardants and doesn’t produce any harmful emissions. The Eco-Foam consists of environmentally friendlier foam made with plant -based oils, and the mattress is completed with a medical grade, soft stretch-knit cover. For cleanliness, the mattress is non-allergenic, antimicrobial and antibacterial and provides ‘no access’ for wetness or bed bugs. It is soft, not like the typical plastic mattress covers that cause your little one to get hot and sweaty!
So, as you can see, the Eco-Visco Angel mattress is made with the highest quality materials! But the best part: It carries a lifetime guarantee!!
The other great feature of this mattress is that it will also fit a toddler bed so this mattress can last you a while! I have read reviews on Amazon where people have used the mattress for 2 of their children and that it is still in great shape! That means a lot when you are making an investment.

Colgate Kids also sent me an Organic Cotton EcoCover to review. I really like how well it fits on the Eco-Visco Angel but it will fit all standard size American crib mattresses, as well. The ultra soft cover is made with certified organic cotton and holds up well with repeated washing and tumble drying with minimal shrinkage and pilling.
Elastic all the way around the perimeter of the back of the cover ensures a safe, good and tight fit to the mattress.
The waterproofing is on the back side of the cover thus keeping organic cloth closest to baby’s skin while keeping any liquids from reaching the surface of the mattress.
So….the big question here is how did my little granddaughter like her new mattress? Well, let’s just say, “she’s sleepin’ like a baby” and that’s great news for both her and her parents!!

My favorite product is baby wipes! I use those for everything! We are trying to become more eco friendly so I plan to make my own but man I sure do use them!

Baby Monitors. It’s nice to be able to monitor even older toddlers and give mom a break without having to be in the same room.
When my children were babies, my couldn’t live without baby product was a baby swing.
I would have to say, baby wipes! even though we don’t have a baby per se’ any more, we still use the wipes all the time!!

I love that the mattress cover is organic cotton. Our first suffers from excema and with our second due in a month, this would be perfect! And our ‘can’t live without’ baby product would have to be many, many, many receiving blankets. We used them for everything with our first and expect we will prolly do the same with this next one : o)

Theres so much when it comes down to a baby i cant live without, but i have to agree i like to have lots of sheets cause i have to change the sheets whenever they get dirty at all but also wipes they are so handy to have even when you dont have a baby! Really like a great mattress!

I love having a baby carrier/wrap… makes it so much easier to get stuff down while still holding baby. Love that the cover doesn’t shrink. We have the hardest time with covers in the dryer… they’re always trying to melt on us!

The swing! It was the only way I got a shower the first few months! It was also the only way I got him to nap the first 8 months.

I’m due Aprile 8 2014 and right now I can’t live with out the breast pads that can ether be cold or hot I don’t no what the names of this product is off hand. I love that this crib pad is organic try to by more organic bedding, clothe and food.
